Membership of these registers implies that the osteopath is recognised. Among other things, this means that the osteopathy treatments provided are reimbursed by the health insurance funds under certain conditions. The IAO only supports those professional associations that see osteopathy as a first-line profession with high academic qualifications (MSc.Ost.).
The following professional associations exist in countries where the IAO is active (please bear in mind the different acceptance criteria of the associations):
|Belgium||BVBO-UPOB. Merger of the two largest professional federations in Belgium: ROB and SBO-BVO.|
|Denmark||Danske Osteopater - DO|
|Germany||Verband für wissenschaftliche Osteopathen Deutschlands e.V. - VWOD|
|France||Numerous professional associations, each with their own criteria.|
|Great Britain||The General Osteopathic Council - GOsC|
|The Netherlands||Nederlandse Vereniging voor Osteopathie - NVO Nederlands Register voor Osteopathie - NRO|
|Austria||Österreichische Gesellschaft für Osteopathie - ÖGO|
|Switzerland||Vereinigung akademischer Osteopathen/ innen Schweiz -VaOS.|
We also have excellent relations with professional organizations in every other European country so also there, our students can become a member.
