PAM Cranial causes of parietal sports injuries

Teacher

Frédéric Van Burm is osteopath (MSc.Ost.), sports physiotherapist, teacher, lifelong student, researcher and consultant with worldwide references. On his patient records, you can find players of FC Red Bull Salzburg, Chelsea FC, NBA-team New York Knicks, Belgian Red Devils, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspurs and many others.

Do you also wonder where to look when both your athletic and non-athletic patients suffer from re-injuries? Initially, they report improvement after a first osteopathic visit. But soon after, they suffer to overcome some of the residual complaints.

Re-injuries represent some of the most frustrating conditions for world-class athletes too. It puts pressure on the individual, on team performance, on club results and finances, and on staff members!

Frédéric digs into his impressive patient list and illustrates cases from the Belgian National football team (Red Devils), AC Milan, The New York Knicks and many more.

What does it take to fix these patients for the better? How can you guarantee a long-lasting osteopathic outcome?

And, why do so many pro athletes still present themselves with undetected fundamental weaknesses leading to injuries prior to competition each consecutive year?

This two-day course offers insights, experience with and scientific background of non-contact (re)injuries and a surprising spotlight on detecting and treating certain hidden risk factors of parietal (re)injury: for example cranial trauma, such as minimal traumatic brain injury or concussions. What is the impact of the head impact, and what is a co-occurring counterstrain in striated muscle? Links to neurology are highlighted and explained.

Other cranial risks like non-fitting occlusion (dental malocclusion), associated temporomandibular joint dysfunction and focal infections are clinically underpinned.

Research results demonstrate that whenever the jaw is at risk, the whole body is at risk!

Frédéric will explain and demonstrate easy-to-use validated tests that confirm the presence of some of these hidden weaknesses.

This course integrates new insights into your existing know-how and strengthens the osteopathic paradigms of autocorrection and holism: in the absence of trauma, musculoskeletal/parietal injuries only represent (de)compensations. Or, simply said, concessions the body makes to guarantee more vital functions via defense neurophysiology.

Last year, this post-academic course in Ghent (Belgium) was fully booked!
