IAO once again confirms its exceptional quality position in Europe

With great pride, we would like to share two particularly important milestones for the International Academy of Osteopathy (IAO).
On 27 March 2026, the five-year audit of our collaboration with Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) in London took place. We are delighted to announce that we passed this audit with flying colours. Thanks to this positive result, our graduates will continue to be able to obtain the degree of Master of Science in Osteopathy (MSc.Ost., 120 ECTS) for the next five years.
This is a unique and particularly strong asset of our programme. We are more convinced than ever that the Master of Science in Osteopathy will play a decisive role in shaping the future of osteopathy. Across Europe, professional associations are striving for further recognition and stronger academic integration of our profession. The Master’s degree plays a key role in this process. That is precisely why we remain fully committed to this path.
We regret that not all educational institutions share the same ambition. It is precisely in this academic integration that an important lever lies for the further professionalisation and societal recognition of osteopathy.
In addition, our ISO audit took place on 25 February 2026, and we are pleased to report that we passed this audit as well. More than that, the auditor literally said: “I’m impressed.” This is a particularly meaningful recognition of the work carried out every day within our organisation.
The importance of this audit can hardly be overstated. Through this quality assurance process, we once again confirm that the IAO operates according to clear, reliable and professional processes and procedures. What makes us especially proud is that we have held this quality label without interruption for 29 years. No other school of osteopathy in Europe can make this claim. This says a great deal about the continuity, seriousness and lasting culture of quality that we have built together.
These two positive audits confirm not only the strength of our organisation today, but also our clear commitment to the future: quality, academic added value, and a strong positioning of osteopathy within Europe.
At the IAO, we will continue to build a programme that is not only strong in content, but also meets the highest quality and academic standards.
